The legendary Tom Petty has passed away following a cardiac arrest Sunday night, his spokesman has confirmed.
Following a time of no brain activity following his cardiac arrest, the decision was made to pull life support.
Tom Petty launched his career in the mid seventies fronting Mudcrutch (who later reformed in 2007) before successfully launching his very long and successful career with The Heartbreakers.
During his career, Petty had several well-loved Heartbreakers albums along with his solo efforts including the brilliant Full Moon Fever.
During the late eighties, Petty joined forces with George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison to launch supergroup The Traveling Wilburys.
R.I.P Tom Petty.
