Dead Kennedys Refuse Riot Fest Reunion Offer

The iconic punk band the Dead Kennedys have reportedly refused an offer to reunite and headline this year’s Riot Fest in Chicago.

The outfit disbanded in 1986 following personal issues with the punk scene they represented and didn’t strike a chord publicly until their vicious royalties dispute at the tail end of the 1990s. Frontman Jello Biafra lost his legal battle with the band and has refused to work with them since they reunited in 2001.

Guitarist East Bay Ray confirmed today that Riot Fest had offered a sincere amount to reunite the band at thus year’s festival but it was turned down solely by Biafra.

With the festivals history of reuniting punk bands including The Replacements and even last years reunion by The Misfits, this would have surely been amazing but at last, it wasn’t meant to be. Although, there are many reunions we’d love to see Riot Fest pull off from Elvis Costello & The Attractions and The Modern Lovers to Minor Threat and Fugazi.
