Gorillaz Return With Politically Fuelled Single “Hallelujah Money”

Gorillaz, one of the world’s most influential bands, has return with a brand new single after months of teasing, but their new sound is some uncharted waters.

The new song “Hallelujah Money” features Benjamin Clementine and strikes a political chord which isn’t often territory for the animated band.

“In these dark times, we all need someone to look up to. Me,” said Gorillaz‘ bassist Murdoc. “That’s why I’m giving you this new Gorillaz song, a lightning bolt of truth in a black night. You’re welcome. Now piss on! The new album’s not gonna write itself.”

The video features Clementine dancing in front of a gold elevator, and even features a pop-in cameo from animated star SpongeBob SquarePants.

The song is basically the closest thing to a political anthem by the band and with this being the first taste of a new album, will the album be influenced by today’s shitty political world?
