Adult Swim‘s absurd southern cartoon series Squidbillies is one that is either loved or hated. But those who love the show are pretty loyal, especially musicians. One of Squidbillies finest features is the fact that creators have been able to gain big name musicians to cover the show’s theme in recent years.
Names in recent years like Joshua Homme (of Queens of The Stone Age), Alabama Shakes, Neko Case, Mastodon, Widespread Panic, King Khan & The Shrines and even legendary producer/musician Todd Rundgren have tackled the theme in their own ways. This season will bring in some new names, excellent choices in-fact.
Father John Misty, Kurt Vile, Jimmy Cliff, Rebecca Schiffman and even the classic act The B-52s are locked in to cover the theme song.
While we’re waiting until July 15th to hear some of this season’s extrodinary choices, here’s an Adult Swim released video featuring Alabama Shakes recording their version several years ago.
