REVIEW: Steve Hackett: The Total Experience Live in Liverpool

In October 2015, one of progressive rock’s greatest musicians Steve Hackett brought his Total Experience tour to the surroundings of the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool. Bringing his experience and a wonderfully mixed setlist balancing many of Hackett‘s own songs with those of his former band Genesis, Hackett made the night his own as he usually does.

Those who weren’t at this show can now revisit the magical show in full with Steve Hackett: The Total Experience Live in Liverpool DVD/Blu-Ray set (or even an Audio digital/CD release).

Hackett & co. open the show with a tight performance of “Corycian Fire Intro/Spectral Morning” and proceeded to show the audience his full almost-magical ability as a guitarist and performer throughout the two hour show.

Hackett played a set of mostly his own songs but threw in some Genesis classics to treat the concert-goers, including a wonderful performance of “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway”, along with “The Musical Box” and others.

Hackett shows on this set that after 40+ years of preforming, he’s still got what it takes to be able to take the crowd to another world with his own material and strong takes of Genesis songs he helped build.

For any Genesis, Steve Hackett or Prog-Rock fans, this is a sure must-buy whether it be in video form or if it be in audio form. You can purchase the audio version right here or you get the video version from here.
